SanDisk Z400S Vs Kingston V300

Kingston, Sandisk

SanDisk Z400S and Kingston V300 are both Solid State Drive (SSD) storage devices generally available under the two hundred dollars price line. Both are feasible choices if you are currently looking for an upgrade from your old HDD storage with a limited budget. Affordable and budget-friendly, SanDisk Z400S and Kingston V300 are both loved by many users who seek the superior qualities of the SSD technology. So, how do these two models compare against each other? Which is the one that will give you the best performance and the fullest bang out of the bucks? To answer the questions, continue reading below.

Design and Capacity
Both SanDisk Z400S and Kingston V300 are internal SSD devices designed with the 2.5” ultra-compact and ultra-lightweight form factor, making them excellent for use in laptops and notebooks. Both work with the SATA Rev. 3.0 interface, which offers the data transfer speed of 6Gbps, yet they are also backward-compatible with SATA Rev. 2.0.

Before we compare the performance, we certainly need to consider the capacity choices available on each model. Even if you are going to use the storage only for storing office documents, a larger capacity is usually more cost-efficient, as it will allow you to use the device longer. SanDisk Z400S is available in only two capacity choices: 128GB and 256GB. On the other hand, Kingston V300 comes with a wider range of options. There are 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB variants. While you may find little interest in the smallest capacity (seriously, 60GB?), the 480GB model is certainly more suitable for large programs and software. Now, about the performance levels. Understandably, SanDisk Z400S and Kingston V300 are not the fastest storage devices on the market, but they are still very much better than HDDs. They are also relatively better than the average SSDs. Kingston V300 is powered by a custom SandForce controller and MLC NAND gates to deliver 10x faster performance than HDDs, with read/write speeds of up to 450 MB/s. However, SanDisk Z400S has proven itself to be quite faster than Kingston V300. SanDisk Z400S claims to be able to be 20x faster than HDDs with just 1/20th of the power consumption. The average user benchmarks show that it is about 17% faster than Kingston V300.
