SanDisk Extreme Pro Vs Ultra II

Sandisk, SSD Vs SSD

Back in the early days of SSD production, SanDisk was a very popular brand of SSD products that provides exceptional performance especially for resource-intensive software, like, games. However, with the technology development getting faster and faster with each day, there are some other manufacturers that have joined the competition. SanDisk updates their line-up with SanDisk Ultra II and SanDisk Extreme Pro to keep playing, and there are indeed some loyal fans who stick with them. These models are nevertheless better than average SSD products. Well, SanDisk Extreme Pro is more expensive than SanDisk Ultra II, one reason of why people get confused choosing between the two. Do you want to know what are the differences between SanDisk Extreme Pro and SanDisk Ultra II?

SanDisk Extreme Pro Vs Ultra II

Speed and Performance
Telling you the truth, SanDisk Ultra II is an older model while SanDisk Extreme Pro is the newer model. So, there is no surprise when finding that SanDisk Extreme Pro can boast a better performance than SanDisk Ultra II. The older model already features 128Gbit 19nm TLC with nCache 2.0 and Multi-Page Recovery, which are powerful to prevent data error in case of sudden power loss. However, SanDisk Extreme Pro utilizes 64Gbit 19nm MLC, also with similar data loss prevention measures with nCache Pro. As the effect, SanDisk Extreme Pro can achieve a higher speed than SanDisk Ultra II for random read/write operations, up to 100k/90k IOPS compared to 98k/80k IOPS.

Capacity, Additional Features
Both models are available in 960 GB, 480 GB, and 240 GB. However, there is a 120 GB variant for SanDisk Ultra II, which is not available for SanDisk Extreme Pro. Nevertheless, people rarely seek such low capacity option, anyway. SanDisk Extreme Pro as the newer model is armed by the manufacturer with more advanced features. One notable upgrade is the addition of thermal throttling to SanDisk Extreme Pro. This is very nifty, ensuring the longevity of the SSD against heat issues. The older model does not have thermal throttling, thus is more vulnerable to overheat if being used for a long period non-stop. Related comparison: SanDisk Extreme Vs Ultra.
