For heavy-duty purposes such as gaming, graphic and sound design, and data analysis, you can’t just pick some random SSD device from the market. These intensive applications require a truly reliable SSD, one that has top-notch processing speed and stability. Hence, there are two products that may have captured your attention: Kingston HyperX Savage and Samsung 850 Evo. Both models are heavily popular on the market, loved by many due to their exceptional performance levels. So, which is the SSD that you should choose to get the fullest value out of your money?
Capacity Choices and Included Bundles
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing an SSD is, of course, the capacity. In general, a larger capacity is almost always better, more cost-efficient, as it will allow you to use the storage device for a longer time. This consideration is especially true and noticeable if you often handle large-sized media files or install huge software. Kingston HyperX Savage is available in only four capacity choices, which are 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB. On the other hand, Samsung 850 Evo is available in five larger capacity choices: 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB.
Both Kingston HyperX Savage and Samsung 850 Evo come in the 2.5” form factor and work with SATA III 6 Gbps. Kingston HyperX Savage is available with the bundle kit, which includes the 2.5”-3.5” adapter, the USB 3.0 enclosure, and the Acronis data migration software. Meanwhile, Samsung 850 Evo can be bought along with the 3.5” internal drive bay adapter. The Samsung Data Migration and Magician software is free to download.

Regarding the performance, you will not notice a difference – both are astonishing. They are both blazing fast, suitable for heavy-duty use. There are some different numbers on the papers, but tests and user benchmarks have shown Samsung 850 Evo to be faster than Kingston HyperX Savage. The Samsung SSD is especially more powerful when handling random read and write operations. However, the primary reason to why Samsung 850 Evo may make a better choice is the sophisticated features and technologies. It comes with the Dynamic Thermal Guard, which functions to control the device’s temperature to prevent overheating. It also has built-in AES 256-bit hardware-based encryption for maximum data safety and protection.
