Design
Both Silicon Power S55 and Silicon Power S60 are internal SSD devices designed with the 2.5” form factor. The compact and lightweight design makes them suitable for use on laptops and notebooks. Both models also work with the SATA III interface for 6 Gbps data transfer speed, but you don’t need to worry about your computer having an older SATA version because they are both backward-compatible with older SATA versions. About the capacity choices, both models are available in 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB; but only Silicon Power S55 that also comes in 960GB. In general, a larger capacity is better, since it will allow you to use the SSD storage device for a longer time. Both models have been made for ruggedness and durability; both Silicon Power S55 and Silicon Power S60 are vibration-proof up to 20G and shock-proof up to 1,500G.

Performance
Here is the interesting part. Silicon Power S60 is armed with MLC NAND flash technology, which is usually considered better than TLC. However, the maximum sequential read/write speeds are 530/460 MBps, whereas the maximum random read/write speeds are 43k/24k IOPS. Meanwhile, Silicon Power S55 is packed with TLC NAND flash. It is, however, enhanced further with advanced features such as Bad Block Management, S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring System, and ECC. The combination of these advanced features allow Silicon Power S55 to deliver higher data transmission speed and better reliability, at the same time keeping the production cost and price low. Both Silicon Power S55 and Silicon Power S60 are NCQ and RAID-ready. Both models also come with the garbage collection technology and TRIM command, ensuring that every space in the storage can be used effectively and efficiently.
